 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5: Overview

The Ioniq 5 is one of Hyundai’s leading electric SUVs, helping drive the transition to battery-powered vehicles. Offering room for up to five passengers across two rows, the Ioniq 5 slots into the Hyundai lineup above the smaller Kona Electric, which has a smaller cargo area at the rear. For the 2024 model year, one of the big changes we expect is the introduction of the highly-anticipated Ioniq 5 N, a powerful, high-performance variant. Our team at Huffines Hyundai Plano has compiled the details you need to know if you’re considering purchasing Hyundai’s stylish and well-equipped Ioniq 5.

2024 Ioniq 5 Engine and Performance

There are several powertrain options available in the Ioniq 5. The standard-range Ioniq 5 puts out 168 horsepower with a single motor on the rear wheels. The optional long-range version also has a single motor but can churn out 225 horsepower. The third option is the dual-motor Ioniq 5, which cranks out an impressive 320 horsepower. The upcoming Ioniq 5 N is expected to produce an incredible 600 horsepower from its dual-motor system, but we’ll only know the final numbers when this brand-new model hits our showroom later this year.

The driving ranges of the various Ioniq 5 models vary considerably. The standard-range Ioniq 5 achieves 220 miles of driving on a full charge. The long-range version can manage 303 miles. If you opt for the more powerful dual-motor option, your driving range on a full charge will be 266 miles.

2024 Ioniq 5 Interior

Inside the cabin, you’ll have just over 27 cubic feet of cargo storage at the rear. If you need space for bulkier household items, you can fold down the rear row to open up about 59 cubic feet of space. The Ioniq 5 also has a towing capacity of 2,300 pounds, making it a good choice if you need to haul larger items, like a trailer or small camper.

There’s adequate space in both rows for adult passengers to stretch out. The two outermost seats in the rear row also have LATCH connectors, which make it easier to correctly install child safety seats without using seat belts. If you opt for the base trim, the Ioniq 5’s cabin will include cloth upholstery, heated front seats, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. However, you can gain access to higher-end materials and technology as you move up through the trims, including options such as synthetic leather or genuine leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, and driver’s seat memory settings.

2024 Ioniq 5 Infotainment and Safety Tech

Hyundai equips the Ioniq 5 with an impressive array of infotainment equipment. You get a substantial 12.3-inch infotainment display coupled with a six-speaker audio system. Standard connectivity options include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and five USB ports. You also get a navigation system to help you reach your next destination. If that isn’t enough for you, there are additional options to choose from, including an eight-speaker Bose premium audio system and wireless device charging. The Hyundai Digital Key, which allows you to operate some vehicle features remotely from your smartphone, is another optional add-on.

The Ioniq 5 is also fitted with an extensive range of driver safety technology. Standard features include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and pedestrian detection. When traveling on the highway, you can benefit from lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, and adaptive cruise control, which automatically adjusts your speed. By monitoring your reaction times, the driver-attention monitor alerts you when a break is recommended during longer trips.

Other helpful safeguards are the rear-seat alert, which reminds you to check for kids or pets in the second row, and safe exit assist, which alerts you to traffic approaching from the rear when you’re preparing to get out of the car. You can add a head-up display to easily monitor your vehicle’s performance and a surround-view parking camera to assist you when maneuvering into a tight parking spot.

Another major safety advantage enjoyed by the Ioniq 5 and, in fact, all Hyundai models is the five-year factory warranty. This warranty is longer than most competitors, reflecting the confidence Hyundai has in the quality of its vehicles.

2024 Ioniq 5 Trims and Pricing

Four trims are offered in the Ioniq 5: SE Standard Range, SE, SEL, and Limited. The starting MSRP for the base model is around $42,000, while the top-tier Limited trim has an MSRP of approximately $53,000. The price for the all-new Ioniq 5 N has yet to be confirmed, but it’s anticipated to have a starting MSRP of around $63,000.

In addition to the standard features we’ve already detailed, the Ioniq 5’s base trim includes automatic climate control, push-button start, and proximity keyless entry. The SE trim gets you access to the long-range powertrain. You can also upgrade to the all-wheel-drive (AWD) version at an additional cost. The interior and infotainment features remain the same as in the base trim.

The SEL retains the same powertrain as the SE, with the AWD option again available as an upgrade. Inside the cabin, you get synthetic leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, and wireless device charging. Another feature in this trim is the Hyundai Digital Key. The Limited trim has ventilated front seats, a power-adjustable passenger seat, and an eight-speaker Bose premium audio system. You’ll also benefit from a panoramic sunroof, the surround-view parking camera, and memory settings for the driver’s seat.

The Ioniq 5 N is expected to be sold separately in a single trim. The body style will be a hatchback rather than the crossover style used for the standard Ioniq 5. As the release date approaches, we’ll update you with more information on the interior features and optional upgrades.
