What Is The Hyundai Bluelink App?

Hyundai Bluelink combines an infotainment operating system and an app. It allows subscribers to connect to their vehicle through their smartphone and is available on most Hyundai vehicles released in 2012 or later. Bluelink gives owners greater control over many valuable functions, making driving more convenient, efficient, and comfortable. Let’s take a look at what Bluelink can do for you.

Connected Care Package

Bluelink offers three different packages for customers, including Connected Care. This service provides everything you need to take care of your vehicle, such as service reminders, scheduling, diagnostic alerts, a periodic vehicle health report, and on-demand diagnostics and alerts. This system features a complete vehicle diagnostic option that you can activate with the app. In addition, you’ll receive a simple notification that you can forward to your neighborhood Hyundai dealership if the computer discovers a maintenance issue.

Enhanced Roadside Assistance

Enhanced Roadside Assistance is also part of the Connected Care option. With Bluelink’s technology, Hyundai’s customer service agents can access your vehicle’s GPS coordinates. So if you ever end up with a flat tire, a dead battery, or an empty gas tank, you can get help with the touch of a button. The peace of mind that comes with this outstanding car care package is available no matter where you are, and agents are available 24 hours a day, every day, for when you need assistance.

Remote Package

The Remote package is the second of Hyundai’s Bluelink system packages. It allows you to remotely lock and unlock the car, start the engine, activate the panic alert feature during an emergency, and access the climate control settings. Imagine a heat wave or snowstorm descending in your area. Take comfort in knowing you don’t have to brave the elements to warm up or cool down your vehicle’s interior.

You can preset your ideal temperature and fan speed from anywhere, and it will only take your Hyundai 10 minutes to achieve a cool or cozy cabin with Bluelink’s remote start system. Just remember that your Hyundai vehicle must be equipped with an automatic or dual-clutch transmission and the push-button start feature to utilize remote climate control.

Car Finder

The Bluelink Car Finder portion of Hyundai’s Remote package helps you locate your car on a map, as long as you’re standing within a mile radius of where you left it. If you plan to travel farther than that, you can also tag your car’s parking spot. So whether you’re carpooling or heading out on the trail for a hike, you’ll know where to find your vehicle anytime. Just open the Bluelink app, select “Map” on the home screen, push “Car Finder,” enter your code, and you’ll be able to see your Hyundai’s location.

Guidance Package

The Guidance package is more than a navigation tool. It provides you with the quickest route to your destination along with a wealth of information if you’re looking to explore, thanks to Destination Search by Google. So whether you’re visiting a new area or you just moved to town, you can send your favorite locations to your car from the app. When you’re driving, you can also search by voice using the button on your mirror.

Driving Score

Hyundai’s Driving Score option is for Bluelink members with enrolled vehicles who drive at least 20 miles a week for two weeks. It produces a weekly numerical rating that summarizes your overall driving style using a proprietary algorithm. You can use this metric to determine how well you navigate the roadways and make improvements to your driving as necessary.

In addition to your overall score, you can view ratings on individual factors, from abruptness when accelerating to how often you drive at speeds over 80 mph. There’s a lot you can learn from this feature to help you become a safer driver in categories such as:

  • Smooth driving.
  • Speed responsibility.
  • Driving consistency.
  • Total driving hours.
  • Driving time of day.

Another terrific reason to take advantage of the Driving Score feature is usage-based insurance. Your Bluelink app can help you qualify for lower premiums based on your real-life driving scenarios. For example, if the data collected by your Hyundai shows that you drive safer or less often than others in your demographic, you may qualify for discounts on your auto insurance.

Your car uses sensors installed by Hyundai’s engineers to collect this data in a way that insurance companies can use to help them evaluate your risk. Scores of 50 or higher are good, and the higher yours is, the more you can save on your policy premiums. Of course, any discounts vary depending on the insurance provider.

Stolen Vehicle Recovery

While we hope it never happens to you, nearly two vehicles are stolen every minute in America. If it does happen, a Bluelink agent can help you get it back. First, call your local police department and file a stolen vehicle report. Have the report number handy, and the customer care team will help you and the authorities locate your car. If it’s still on the move, your agent can send a series of commands to the vehicle that will bring it to a complete stop. Once they’ve immobilized the engine, officers can recover it safely.
