Founded on May 5, 1924, by J.L. Huffines Sr., our family-operated business started with a simple yet profound vision: to treat customers with respect and support the local community. These founding principles have not only endured but have become the bedrock of the Huffines legacy.
A Humble Beginning
The journey began in Denton, Texas, where J.L. Huffines Sr. opened the doors of the Huffines Motor Company. Selling Willys-Knight and Overland automobiles, the dealership was revolutionary for its time, demonstrating vehicle reliability and power by driving up the steps of the Denton County Courthouse—a bold move that symbolized the adventurous spirit of the brand.
Despite the challenges of the Great Depression, where the dealership accepted livestock and farm implements in trade for vehicles, our commitment to customer service never wavered. Our dealership’s reputation for fairness and integrity helped it not only survive but thrive during difficult times.
Expanding the Vision
Following in his father’s footsteps, J.L. Huffines Jr. expanded the business significantly. After his service in World War II, he took over leadership and grew our brand across multiple locations in North Texas. His efforts cemented Huffines as a leading name in the automotive industry, known for our exceptional customer service and community involvement.
The third generation, led by Ray Huffines, continued this expansion, growing the family business into one of the largest automotive groups in North Texas, now boasting 10 dealerships across the region. Today, Huffines Auto Group offers a vast range of automotive brands, including Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Kia, Hyundai, Subaru, and Genesis.

Our company has been recognized as a Texas Treasure Business by the Texas Historical Commission, awarded for its historic contributions to the state’s community and economy. In celebration of their 100th anniversary, Huffines has launched a community campaign involving their iconic “Huffines HAS IT!” jingle. For every rendition sung by residents, the dealership donates $100 to local charities, reaffirming our century-long commitment to giving back.
